Brian Slyman produces quality, handmade guitars for customers worldwide. A musician, he plays around Connecticut with the band Instant Karma. Brian started his education in guitar building at a class given by Danny Brown of Martin Guitars. He studied French polish technique with Ivan Schmukler of Lees Guitar of Northampton, Mass. He continues his education in the craft with Phil Bouchard of Ovation/Guild guitars. Brian was a full-time carpenter before switching to a career in fiber optics, first as a technician, and then an engineer. Building guitars is an excellent creative outlet which combines the precision of engineering, the creativity of woodworking, and his passion for music.

His creations begin with the style of guitar, choice of wood, construction technique, to choice of finish, and type of strings.

Working alone on the construction of each guitar gives him total control over the whole process. He does everything from purchasing the wood to packing the instrument for shipping. He takes personal pride in the workmanship of every guitar that leaves his shop. Each day brings further enlightenment about the craft. It is a combined love of woodworking and music that goes into each guitar created.
